‘Bharat Taxi’: A New Player in the Ride-Hailing Arena

‘Bharat Taxi’ has officially commenced its pilot phase in Delhi, offering a diverse range of transportation options including cars, auto-rickshaws, and bikes. Vision and Collaborative Launch of ‘Bharat Taxi’

Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Ltd, initiated on June 6, 2025, manages the ‘Bharat Taxi’ app. Chairman Jayen Mehta, also Managing Director of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCCMMF), highlighted the registration of over 51,000 drivers in Delhi. Inspired by Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Sahakar Se Samridhi,’ Union Minister Amit Shah envisioned this cooperative to uplift drivers nationwide. Key stakeholders include Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (Amul), IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NAFED, NDDB, NCEL, NCDC, and NABARD. The cooperative’s board includes elected driver representatives, ensuring their voices are heard.

Key Features and Driver Benefits

‘Bharat Taxi’ distinguishes itself with a user-friendly mobile app offering transparent fares, real-time vehicle tracking, multi-lingual support, and 24/7 customer service. The app emphasizes secure onboarding, inclusive mobility, and robust safety measures for citizens. Operating on a zero-commission model, drivers retain all earnings, with cooperative profits directly benefiting them. Its integration with public transport like the Delhi Metro facilitates seamless trip planning. A collaboration with the Delhi Police further guarantees the safety of both riders and drivers. The app aims to empower commercial vehicle drivers, reducing their reliance on private companies.

Zero-Commission Model and Profit Sharing

One of the most compelling aspects of ‘Bharat Taxi’ is its zero-commission model. Unlike traditional ride-hailing services that take a cut of drivers’ earnings, ‘Bharat Taxi’ allows drivers to keep 100% of their fares. Furthermore, any profits generated by the cooperative will be shared directly with the drivers, creating a more equitable and sustainable ecosystem for those who rely on ride-hailing for their livelihood.
