The Indian two-wheeler market is riding high, experiencing a significant surge in sales during November. Overall, two-wheeler sales climbed by an impressive 21% year-on-year, extending the positive momentum gained during the festive season. This growth indicates a strong consumer demand and a generally positive outlook for the industry. With most major manufacturers reporting substantial double-digit growth, the sector is clearly thriving.
Hero MotoCorp Dominates Two-Wheeler Sales Volume and Growth
Hero MotoCorp continues to lead the pack, maintaining its top position in the market. The company reported a remarkable 30% increase in sales, reaching 570,520 units compared to 439,777 units in the same period last year. Hero MotoCorp attributes this sustained growth to improvements in the overall operating environment, highlighting the positive impact of GST benefits, a conducive macroeconomic landscape, and a revival in rural ownership and spending. This solidifies the company’s position as a key player in the two-wheeler market.

Other Key Players Show Strong Performance
While Hero MotoCorp leads, other manufacturers also contributed to the overall growth. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) and Suzuki Motorcycle India both reported robust sales figures, each registering a 23% increase. HMSI clocked sales of 533,645 units in November, up from 432,888 units in the previous year, while Suzuki’s sales rose to 96,360 units from 78,333 units a year earlier. These figures show the healthy state of the two-wheeler industry, with multiple companies experiencing substantial gains.
Bajaj Auto Faces a Minor Setback
While the majority of manufacturers saw significant growth, Bajaj Auto experienced a slight dip in domestic volumes. Its sales decreased by 1% to 202,510 units against 203,611 units a year earlier. Despite this marginal decline, the overall expansion in the two-wheeler segment surpassed the growth of passenger vehicles, with PV sales rising by 19% in November. This highlights the continued strength and resilience of the two-wheeler sales sector, even with individual variations in performance.
Hero MotoCorp on its Impressive Sales Performance
Hero Motocorp believes this strong sales performance stems from the success of the festive season, bolstered by the positive reception of its new models. The Xtreme 125R, GlamourX 125, Destini 110, and Xoom 160 have all resonated well with customers, contributing to the company’s overall success. These new models demonstrate Hero MotoCorp’s commitment to innovation and meeting the evolving needs of two-wheeler consumers.
