The Honor Magic8 Pro has arrived, and we’ve had the opportunity to explore its design, build quality, and performance. Available in Velvet Black, Snowy White, Rising Sun Gold Sand, and Sky Blue, our review focused on the Velvet Black, Silky Blue, and Gold models, all featuring a frosted glass back for fingerprint resistance. The blue and gold versions boast a shimmering effect when light interacts with the surface, while the black offers a more understated, dark grey aesthetic.
A new addition this year is the customizable AI button, a physical camera control button located on the right edge, reminiscent of the iPhone’s design. It allows for quick access to the AI assistant or the camera with a long or double press, respectively.
The Magic8 Pro refines its predecessor’s design, featuring a smaller 6.71-inch display. This adjustment makes the phone more compact, measuring 1.5mm shorter, 2.1mm narrower, and 0.5mm thinner, with a weight reduction of 4 grams to 219g. Its smaller footprint is comfortable, especially when compared to larger flagships like the vivo X200 Ultra, Oppo Find X9 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The camera bump is also more streamlined than competitors like the vivo X300 Pro.
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the Magic8 Pro demonstrates robust performance. While our review unit featured 12GB of RAM, it still managed to outperform the Realme GT 8 Pro in Geekbench 6’s single and multi-core tests. In AnTuTu, it secured a respectable third position. Graphics performance in 3DMark was solid, placing it among the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phones.
The battery capacity varies by region. Chinese models boast a 7,200 mAh battery, global units have 7,100 mAh, and European versions are reduced to 6,270 mAh.
