Ride-sharing apps like Rapido, Ola, and Uber have revolutionized commuting, offering unparalleled convenience and speed. However, this ease of access has also brought increased scrutiny regarding passenger safety. Recently, a harrowing incident involving a Rapido ride in Delhi has reignited these concerns.
Priyanka, an Instagram user, documented her terrifying experience when a seemingly ordinary commute turned dangerous. Her video, which quickly went viral, shows her falling off a Rapido bike mid-ride, highlighting potential safety lapses. She claims her driver didn’t wear a helmet and refused to provide one, then drove erratically, ignoring traffic rules, and even driving on the wrong side of the road. Documenting the ride, Priyanka recorded the incident, later posting it on Instagram, expressing her shock and feeling unsafe during the ride.
The situation escalated when the Rapido bike collided with another vehicle. Priyanka stated that despite the accident occurring in front of Delhi Police, no action was taken. She ended up paying the injured party and walking away. Subsequently, she urged Rapido to prioritize responsible drivers over those who disregard safety regulations.
In response to the viral video, Rapido issued an apology and pledged a thorough investigation. Their statement emphasized the company’s commitment to ensuring all drivers carry helmets for themselves and passengers and promised strict action against those who fail to comply with safety protocols. They requested Priyanka’s ride details to further investigate the matter. The incident underscores the ongoing need for ride-sharing services to prioritize and enforce stringent safety measures to protect their passengers.
